Previously on “The Mysteries of Our Lives”: Spring of Devastation
Royce:  A. Ramsey Lakhan is a very powerful and ruthless lawyer.
Jessica:  Ruthless enough to get William out on parole… How do I put a stop to this?
Royce:  Find someone who can fight as dirty as he can. (~)
Evelin: (speaking frantically on the phone) Yes, I need an ambulance now…
Samantha:  I need to know if Earl’s been outside of Hallandale in the past several months.
Evelin: (baffled by the inquiry) What does Earl’s travel plans have to do with anything?
Samantha:  It would help in eliminating any dark alternatives… it is very possible Earl has been exposed to a very deadly chemical. (~)
Stephen:  Illusion Magazine wants to do a spread, a cover spread, in fact.  Including a full-feature interview with all of us about the upcoming fashion show and its attractions…
Jacquez:  That’s a great promotional pitch and all, but there’s one problem.
Michelle:  What’s that?
Jacquez:  I won’t be doing any such thing. (~)
Anton:  I trust Malina.  It’s you I don’t trust.
Beau:  That becomes more apparent everyday.
***Malina: (standing in the doorway as Anton remains miles away holding onto his notepad) Hey, penny for your thoughts?
Anton: (turning his interest to the doorway with a smile) Hey, I thought you were headed to work this morning.
Malina: (walking up to his desk) That was the plan, but then I realized I would be too distracted until I found out how things went between you and Dylan.
Anton:  Well, I told him about Beau being alive; it wasn’t that dramatic of a moment.  I mean, he didn’t know his cousin all that well, so--
Malina:  Is he going to see his cousin?
Anton:  I’d imagine he’d be anxious to meet him.
Malina:  and are you okay with that?
(<- Cypress Gardens Plaza ->)
Jacquez:  I’m glad you could make it.
Kendall: (her eyes fixed in the direction from where she just came) Well, you told me to meet you here.
Jacquez:  What are you looking for?
Kendall:  Just trying to make sure you weren’t followed.
Jacquez:  Come on, I think the press have better things to do than follow me around.  Besides, I won’t be in the public eye for much longer.
Kendall:  What is that suppose to mean?
Jacquez:  It means you have nothing to worry about; I’m no longer doing the gig at Hunk & Beauty Fashions.
(<- Leysdale Hospital ->)
Samantha: (waltzing up to the front desk) Oh Delilah, have the preliminary results come back on Earl Pryce yet?
Royce: (overhearing her inquiry) What’s wrong with Earl Pryce?  (Samantha looks on alarmed)
Evelin: (Earl’s monitor beeps simultaneously) How is he?
Romain:  Well, he’s stable for now.  We won’t know anything more until after we receive his preliminary results.  So all we can do is wait and pray that this isn’t another case of blackadder36.
Evelin:  and what if it is the toxin that’s causing his condition?
Romain:  Then I’d pray we find the anecdote to this thing before his condition progresses.
(<- Joy Gannon’s Office ->)
Joy: (responding to a knock on her door) Come in.  Can I help you?
Jessica: (standing in the doorway) Depends.  I need you to help me stop someone.
Joy: (walking from behind her desk) Who and by what means?
*Theme Song*
Jessica:  My ex-husband and believe me, it’s legal.
Joy:  Good, I wouldn’t want it any other way.  Please, have a seat.
Jessica: (she sits in the chair Joy points out to her as Joy leans against her desk) Thank you.
Joy:  So tell me, how exactly do you want me to stop your ex- husband?
Jessica:  My ex- husband was charged with illegal imprisonment and assault over a year ago.  Now he has hired some big-shot attorney to make the charges disappear so he can get out on parole.
Joy: (curious look in her eyes) Who’s the attorney?
Jessica: (leaving Joy stone cold) A. Ramsey Lakhan!
(<- Leysdale Hospital ->)
Samantha:  Since when are you concerned about Earl Pryce?
Royce:  Okay, I’m not concern, but I am curious.
Samantha:  There’s the brother I know and love.  Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to indulge your curiosity.  So what brings you here?
Royce:  I was hoping we could have lunch together, talk about life.  You know, it’s been a long time since we spent anytime with each other.  In fact, I don’t believe we’ve seen each other since Christmas.
Samantha:  Well, we both have been pretty busy, you with Kavina’s trial and I with this hospital uproar.  But I am actually due for a break in the next 15 minutes.  Is there anything in particular you want to discuss?
Royce:  Yeah, how is your husband? (Samantha notes his sarcasm)
(<- Cypress Gardens Plaza ->)
Kendall:  You quit your job.
Jacquez:  You sound upset.
Kendall:  Well, I know I wasn’t very supportive of a career for you here in Hallandale--
Jacquez: (cuts in) To say the least.
Kendall:  But I still wouldn’t want you to quit something you love because of me.
Jacquez:  Relax, I didn’t quit, I just opted not to go ahead with the spring show.
Kendall:  It still won’t solve our problems, you’re going to end up modeling at some point and with a newspaper like Past Revelations Chronicle around, emphasis on “Past Revelations”, our secret won’t be safe for long.
Jacquez:  Well, it sounds to me like we’re screwed no matter what we do, so why fight the inevitable?
(<- Showtime Limits Agency ->)
Anton: (scratching his neck) I’m not sure how I feel about it, I’m trying to keep an open mind.
Malina:  You still don’t trust Beau?
Anton:  I know what he says and then I know what he’s done and that doesn’t leave me with a good feeling.
***Malina:  I thought you were a risk taker.
Anton:  Some things are too valuable to risk.
Malina:  Well, life isn’t life without risks?
Anton:  So I should take this as some kind of lesson.
Malina:  Yes, I mean, Dylan’s your brother, but you told him about Beau anyway.  You demonstrated faith that Beau really does want things to change, you took a risk and I don’t think you will be sorry.
Anton:  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
(<- Cypress Gardens Plaza ->)
Kendall:  I don’t want a man’s name and reputation dragged through the mud, that is why I’m fighting this.  I just don’t understand why what happened in Europe cannot stay in Europe.
Jacquez:  I still don’t see how anyone would stumble onto such a thing?  I mean, what happened to Pheonix was so low-key.
Kendall:  Well, the district attorney got his hands on the information somehow.
Jacquez:  Are you sure the D.A. knows about Pheonix death and everything that went down or was it a trick to get you to reveal more or perhaps shake you up a bit.
Kendall:  Now that I think about it, he only mentioned my being under suspicion of murder, so its possible that he does not know anything and all my worries are for nothing.
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Matthew: (pacing the floor) I think that’s the last of it.
Dana:  I still can’t believe you moved out.
Matthew:  I… I couldn’t stay in that apartment under the same roof, not with the way things are between my brother and me.
Dana:  It just seems you’re cutting all ties with him these days: first, your job and now, moving out.
Matthew:  I just think it would be easier if we both had some time to ourselves.
Dana:  Be careful because you never know when that time is going to run out.
(<- Joy Gannon Office ->)
Joy:  A. Ramsey Lakhan is representing your husband?
Jessica:  So you’ve heard of him?
Joy:  Yes, Mr. Lakhan and I have crossed paths before.
Jessica:  So you have gone against each other in the courtroom before?
Joy:  No, but we have in the bedroom.  I use to be married to him.
***Jessica:  You’re A. Ramsey-Lakhan’s ex- wife.  (she paces off to the left) Well, I guess you won’t be representing me then.
Joy:  Not necessarily.
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Matthew:  Can we not-- I just can’t-- I can’t listen to my brother try to rationalize lying to me and being overprotective.  You know that all I want is the truth about my father’s death, but he doesn’t want to give me those answers.  He’s the one that’s driving the wedge between us, not I.
Dana:  I just don’t think that you should allow something so petty to come between you and your brother.  Now, I’m sorry if that seem disrespectful of your feelings, but I must be blunt here.  I’ve lost a sibling, my sister, who I hardly knew or had a chance to because some sicko decided to strangle the life out of her.
Matthew:  I’m sorry.
Dana: (quickly interceding) I don’t want you to be sorry, I want you to hear what I’m saying-- patch things up with your brother, before it’s too late.
(<- Garden Ridges Park ->)
Samantha: (instructs the waiter of her order as she sits down) Ice tea, thank you!  (she turns to Royce who remains quiet) You can speak anytime now.
Royce:  (he pauses for a moment and then speaks, unable to stop from twitching) Well, it’s a little hard for me to talk about this now that I’m actually here.
Samantha: (resting her chin in her hands as she jerks her hair back) Why?  I’m only your sister.
Royce:  Well, disclosure has never been my best event.
Samantha:  Yeah, especially when it comes too--  (she pauses and takes a look at his body language) Oh my god, this is about another woman, isn’t it?
Jacquez:  You know, I’ve always been surprise yet amaze at your decision to keep things secret considering everything that went down between you two and how he hurt you.
Kendall:  Well, he can’t hurt me anymore now, can he?
Jacquez:  Pain doesn’t have to be physical for the emotions to still be visible.
Kendall:  and you’re under what branch of medicine?
Jacquez:  I don’t need a medical degree to make that analysis.  Remember?  I saw how dangerous Pheonix was; I’m the one that stopped him.
Kendall:  You’ll get no arguments from me, you did stop him.
***Jacquez:  You sound almost like you regret my saving your life.
Kendall:  Well, it’s kind of hard to swallow when you know someone else died in order for it to happen.
Jacquez:  and that someone could have easily been you.  Do you really think that Pheonix would be here today feeling one ounce of regret?
Kendall:  Yes, I do.  He loved me, granted it was kind of sick, but he did.  That was the reason behind everything that happened that night and he made it clear to me on his deathbed that he was sorry.
Jacquez:  That’s because he relize he was dying and going to hell, he wanted to ensure he received absolution first.
Kendall: (firmly) No, I do not believe that and I don’t ever want to hear you say that again.
Royce:  So you’re sure this is about another woman?
Samantha:  Just as sure as I am that I didn’t come here for a game of clue, not to mention the fact that you’re begging the question.
Royce:  All right, you’re right.  This is about a woman, but not in the way you’re thinking.
Samantha:  All right, then enlighten me.
Royce:  Rochelle has been really distant with me, especially since Kavina’s trial.
Samantha:  Yeah, I heard about what went down between you two at the courthouse; word is that it was quite a scene.
Royce:  Well, at least then I knew how she felt, now its just complete silent treatments and that’s when she’s not sending her secretary to relay her messages.
Samantha:  Don’t take this the wrong way, but she went on trial for a man’s murder and you knew who the killer was. (Royce responds with shock silence to her blunt statement)
(<- Joy Gannon’s Office ->)
Jessica:  (curious tone) What do you mean, not necessarily?
Joy:  Meaning who better to exploit Armann’s weaknesses than one of his ex- wives?
Jessica:  Armann?
Joy:  Yes, Armann Ramsey-Lakhan, quite a tongue twister, huh?
Jessica:  Among other things.  So you’re really serious about taking on this case?
Joy:  Yes.  Now, I can’t guarantee you we will be triumphant, but I can promise you one thing, it will be one hell of a fight. (Jessica looks on cautiously upon receiving her statement)
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Matthew: (closing the door behind them as he walks on ahead of Dana, but turns back to discuss places for them to go) We can go to Monte Carlos or Cypress Gardens--
Evelin: (interceding, as she runs up towards them) Matthew, there you are.  I’ve been looking everywhere for you.
Matthew: (baffled expression) Evelin!  What’s going on?
Evelin:  It’s about your brother, he’s terribly sick.
Matthew:  Well, I’m sure my brother will be fine after a little rest and relaxation.
Evelin: (stopping him from walking any further) This is serious.  He’s in the hospital; the doctors think it could be fatal. (the words echo through his mind as shock graces Matthew face, he turns to Dana, who is also mystified.  Dana glares at Evelin and then turns back to Matthew, who is still stone cold shock)
Next:
Jacquez:  What is it? What's wrong? (~)
Brock:  You need to open your eyes before Leigha Gray ruins your life yet again. (~)
Brian:  You were right, I have feelings for Jennifer.  Are you happy now? (~)
Rochelle:  I want to know what went wrong between you and my father.
