Previously on "The Mysteries of Our Lives": Winter of Forbidden Ecstasy
Leigha: The prosecution is going to need to discredit Anton's testimony, which means this could get nasty. (~)
Dean: This case will only be over when Kavina gets what she deserves. (~)
Dana: Your brother has been--
Matt: You cannot tell him where I am!
***(A man walks into the graveyard and finally reaches the grave of his destination)
Dean: Well bro, its been a while! (Kneels down and looks down at his brother tomb as his name and life span stands out in his mind)
(<- Shanna's Art Studio ->)
Andrew: I must say that I admire your husband Ben.
Shanna: (stacking shelf space) Oh, why's that?
Andrew: For allowing a women like yourself to spend so much time with another man. I know if you were my wife, I couldn't be so restrictive.
Shanna:  I doubt it because if you really are in love with someone, you will allow him or her that extra space they need.
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Earl: Well Matt, I thought I taught you hiding was for cowards.
Matt: I wasn't hiding; I was avoiding you because I do not want to see your face. I said everything I had to say to you at the house.
Earl: So you naturally drag Dana into our private affairs?
Dana: (coming to Matt's side) He did not drag me into this and you're one to talk.
Matt: (vigorous tone) Yeah bro, some loyalty doesn't have to be forced.
Earl: I'm so sick of you acting like I performed some kind of betrayal.
Matt: Because you did and you know it!
(<- Hallandale Courthouse ->)
Lournings: Mr. McCloud, to paraphrase what you testified to earlier, "you believe most people who commit crimes of such nature as murder are not themselves at the time of the act, is that accurate?
Anton: Yes!
Lournings: So then you'd expect one to show signs of emotional disturbance after the fact? I mean, if the defendant were not herself, you'd think she would be on the verge of the edge or something, especially within the last hours before committing such a heinous crime as shooting Mr. Leonard Stone, wouldn't you? Or would all her signs magically appear moments after committing the crime and realizing she'd been caught?
Joy: Objection your honor, counsel is badgering the witness.
Lournings: No, your honor, I am simply refuting the claim that was reached by the defense's counsel to help her client escape persecution for a crime that she committed under malice and if you let me continue to cross-examine Mr. McCloud, I can prove just that! (Kavina eyes lit with worry after Lournings' plea)
*Theme Song*
Robin: (walking into the house not feeling too good) Jay.
Jay: (popping out of the kitchen as she walks in) Hey.
Robin: Hey, what's going on?
Jay: Well, tonight is our anniversary, so I thought we celebrate in style. (Robin can only express amazement by Jay's attitude)
(<- Shanna's Art Studio ->)
Shanna: (inspecting the place) Oh, this is coming along so nicely.
Andrew: Yeah, it's got to be some of my best work.
Shanna: (walking back over to Andrew with a grin) Well, one cannot accuse you of not lacking modesty.
Andrew: I learned a long time ago that one couldn't deny what they have.
Shanna: That can be an admirable trait or a nagging flaw.
Andrew: Did your late husband possess that flaw, I mean, he and Ben seem so different.
Shanna: (abruptly said) How did you know about my ex-husband? (Andrew soon realizing he said too much)
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Earl: This is hardly the place to be handling our dispute.
Matt:  and where should we handle this, back in that place in this resort you call a home, I would have to trust you first.
Earl: and you can't trust me because I failed to share everything I knew with you.
Matt: (calm, but hurtful tone) I can't trust you because you failed to be honest with me, instead you looked into my face and lied to me for months, that's what they call betrayal.
(<- Hallandale Courthouse ->)
Judge: I am going to allow Mr. Lournings the chance to cross-examine Mr. McCloud, but I suggest you stick to one question at a time, counsel.
Lournings: No problem, your honor!
Joy: (loud enough that Kavina could hear) Damn!
Kavina: What is it?
Joy: Bad, if Lournings starts asking the right questions and with Anton's testimony, we could be royally screwed.
Kyle: It looks like the defense is getting a little edgy.
Lacreasha: Good, someone needs to knock them off their high horse.
Lournings: You testified earlier that Kavina actions seem normal before killing Leonard Stone, how is that possible for a woman that committed the crime under emotional duress?
***Dean: I'm sure you're wondering why I didn't come sooner, I have been pretty busy since coming to Hallandale. The latest of activity involving the endurance of that mockery of a trial Kavina is having. It seems like everyday she is getting closer and closer to the possibility of freedom and I can't let that happen because then you wouldn't receive justice for your death. (emotionally wrought tone, but with conviction in the end) It would be like you deserved to die and you didn't deserve to die!
(<- Shanna's Art Studio ->)
Andrew: Well, I don't know much except that your late husband was in law enforcement and your current husband is in mechanics.
Shanna: That hardly matters to me! To answer your question, Terrell was more modest than Ben is he had that kind of manner that soothes you.
Andrew: So it must have been a huge loss when he died?
Shanna: (taken aback by the question) What kind of question is that?
(<- Springfield Lakes Resort ->)
Dana: Well, I obviously missed a couple of chapters.
Matthew: I can't trust you anymore and the sad part is you're my brother. One should be able to trust his own brother and betrayal is the last thing you'd expect from family.
Earl: I didn't betray you for the last time, I kept information you were too young and obviously emotionally unbalanced to understand.
Matthew: That is your excuse for everything, if it doesn't enter your logic, it cannot be real. When the truth of the matter is you kept this from me because you got some sick kind of power out of having valuable information about my life in your hands.
Earl: Valuable information given by our parents and ensured to me to make sure you never learned of any of it, you want someone to accuse of betrayal, you look no further than our parents. (Matt stands nerved by his brother's statement)
***Matthew: (stunned tone) My god, you are going to put the blame on our parents for the lies that you told-- get out! (Matthew walks off to the side, Dana looks at Earl and Matthew, and then Earl becomes pissed)
(<- Hallandale Courthouse ->)
Anton: Look, I cannot be sure of what happened after she left the office and before she killed Leonard Stone. All I knew for sure is she was leaving for a night class and that seem pretty normal to me.
Lournings: Yes, going to class is a very normal activity, but how do we get to the Kavina Shah that the defense has been trying to convince the jury is emotionally disturbed?
Anton: Maybe its possible that she already made peace within herself that night of how to relieve her anxiety over the pain Leonard was causing.
Joy: (responding too herself) Good answer, Antonio!
Lournings: and that still brings me back to one of my original questions, if the defendant was really disturbed by all of this, would there not have been signs of this agony? Would someone have not noticed the defendant's state of mind?
Anton: We're not therapists, some people have become real good at hiding their true feelings.
Lournings: Or maybe there were no feelings to hide, could that be it, Mr. McCloud? (causing Anton self-doubt)
(<- Shanna's Art Studio ->)
Shanna: Of course I felt a lost when my ex-husband died. (emotional tone soon turns inquisitive) Terrell's death was horrible and I was partly responsible, but why am I disclosing so much of my life to you when you haven't told me anything about yourself. Who are you, Andrew Stokes?
Andrew: (pause for a moment) Well, I'm a carpenter and as you too, I was married once. Of course, it ended shortly after.
Shanna: Really, why?
Andrew: I guess my brother's death and my reaction to it was an extenuating factor. After he died, I pretty much shut myself off from everyone. Somehow, I didn't feel the zest for life as I once did when he was alive.
Shanna: I'm sorry, I can only imagine the pain of losing a brother or a sister. But was your marriage really irreparable after that?
Andrew: By the time the grief warn off, so much had changed between me and Rhea that it was impossible to go back. I never really got involved with anyone else since. (Shanna unsure of what to say or think)
(<- Sky Lansing Condos ->)
Jay: Our delicious Italian feast awaits you. All you have to do is dig in.
Robin: I can't believe you did this and everything looks so delicious and the aroma...
Jay: I thought we bring a little tradition into this anniversary-- (becoming alarmed) Robin, are you all right?
Robin: (stepping up from the table) I don't feel so good, (near faint) I think I am going to be sick! (runs out of the room)
***Robin: I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. I just felt so sick in the pit of my stomach all of a sudden and I've completely ruin your plans.
Jay: Don't worry about that, we can save it for another day, besides I think I know what's wrong with you.
Anton: Yes, its possible.
Lournings: Thank you, Mr. McCloud. I have no further questions for this witness, your honor. (walking back to his quarters)
Judge: Ms. Gannon, would you like to re-examine the witness?
Joy: No, your honor, I have no further questions for Mr. McCloud.
Judge: Then you're free to step down Mr. McCloud and this court is adjourned until Noon tomorrow. (pounds gavel) Court Dismissed!
Lacreasha: (looking at her watch) Noon tomorrow, its already midnight, he might as well said 12:00 today.
Kyle: (proceeding towards exit) Come on!
Kavina: (turning to her lawyer) How come you didn't re-examine Anton?
Joy: Because it would be pointless, besides I have another ace up my sleeve.
Dean: You didn't deserve to die, Leon! The world is going to know that because I swear on your grave that if the law doesn't make Kavina pay, I sure as hell will!
*Stay in Tuned for Scenes*
Next:
Shanna: (disgusted tone) Get out of my studio!
Shalia: Not until you put a stop to your husband. (~)
Royce: What prompted you to move from Europe to Hallandale? (~)
Widlin: You call yourself a father, you have ruined my entire life, you bastard!
