Shaquanna is an independent and self-assured woman.  She's had to work hard for everything she's ever wanted in life.  This attitude resulted in her prejudice against the wealthy Pierre family, whom she felt had everything handed to them.  More so, due to Alexander Pierre's financial clout in Hallandale, Shaquanna could not turn him away when he decided to stake a place for his daughter, Widlin, in the agency.  She did believe, however, that in time, she would be able to get rid of Widlin, especially with her star model, Michelle Dientes Alvarez, behind her.

Unfortunately for Shaquanna, Michelle's tune changed regarding Widlin and she decided to back out.  Shaquanna didn't let this setback stop her and proceeded to work solo to bring about Widlin's downfall.  She would later hit the jackpot after overhearing a conversation between Camille Bellows and Widlin about a secret that was left uncovered at West Creek Camp.  Taking the information she gathered, she hired a private investigator – Sandy Reynolds – to look into Widlin's past.  Sandy didn't have much luck, only succeeding in ticking off the very people trying to keep Widlin's dirty little secret underwraps.  During a luxurious cruise, a hitman hired to take out Sandy, shot and killed Kasey Alvarez instead.  Kasey's died instantly, leaving his wife -- Michelle -- devastated.  After a long, drawn out journey in Coral Springs, Michelle discovered that it was Shaquanna's vendetta against Widlin that contributed to the events leading to her husband's death.  Their relationship was never the same after that revelation.  Michelle resigned from Nichols' Beauticon and vowed to make Shaquanna pay for her husband's death.

After Michelle's tell-all interview with Past Relations Chronicles about Shaquanna, almost all of Shaquanna's clients bailed.  Her troubles became even more dire when Michelle decided to open up her own modeling agency, stealing away some of Shaquanna's most reputable liaisons.  However, if there's one thing we have learned about Shaquanna over the years, she's a fighter through and through.  With the help and determination of her business partner, Malina Ramirez, Shaquanna was able to pull her agency from the ashes and jumpstart a new rival campaign -- Liberation.

While the debut of Nichols Beauticon's signature campaign at the annual Spring/Summer fashion loomed, Shaquanna began receiving mysterious phone calls, which turned out to be urges from her father to leave Hallandale and return home.  Although Shaquanna tried to explain that she made a life for herself in Hallandale, her father After the near miss last year with Michelle Dientes, Shaquanna's father doesn't want to take the risk of her being found out.  Shaquanna was forced to explain that she would be leaving Hallandale after the fashion show to return home to contend with a family emergency.  Malina assumed the move was temporary, but Shaquanna made it clear that it wasn't.  daughter's unique situation being uncovered, especially after Michelle Dientes saw firsthand the incredible powers that lie beneath all Shaquanna's outer beauty.  Her father has demanded she leave Hallandale, a choice that she has had difficulty adjusting to since Hallandale, in a way, was her second home.
