Mindy is a childhood friend of Alfonso Morgan. She showed up in Hallandale after Alfonso called it quits with Widlin Pierre. Unbeknownst to Alfonso, Mindy had a secret crush on him and during a storm, they shared a one-time only kiss. When Alfonso tried to explain that they were just caught up in the spirit of the moment, Mindy went along knowing that he was still reeling from his break-up with Widlin and was not ready for another serious relationship. So she remained the doting friend, listening to his problems and constantly trying to help him get on with his life, leading to the search for a fulfilling career.
After weeks of searching, the opportunity of Crystal's Fantasy & Associates came knocking. Mindy was eagered to get involved with Fantasy Inc., Billy Clyde's company that was merged with Crystal Perez' restaurant business as a means of attracting more clientele. Sadly, their plans never took flight because during the night of the grand opening, Billy was mysteriously shot by Javier Sanchez. Mindy and Alfonso then agreed to take over daily operations of the restaurant, putting Fantasy Inc. to the side. Sometime afterward, Alfonso became bored with co- managing the restaurant and begin to leave the management of the restaurant in Mindy's hands. Unable to take care all of the responsibilities, Mindy hired Frankie Lancaster to alleviate some of the duties. Making matters worse, Alfonso continued to show up to work at odd times, which caused a rift to form between her and Alfonso that only deepened when Alfonso informed her that he was eradicating his partnership with CF&A and going off to Seatle for a chance to gain something more. Mindy took the news as a betrayal and refused to wish him any luck with his new venture, unless it was with a bitter overtone. Before leaving town, Alfonso tried once more to smooth things over with Mindy, but she could only wish him good riddance.
Shortly after Alfonso's departure, a mysterious figure began hovering over nearly every move that Mindy has made. At times, Mindy has felt his/her presence, but it would always turn out to be a fluke that she conviced herself that she it must be paranoia. On top of all this, a new man would enter her life in the form of wealthy, mysterious charmer, Morgan Hysterias, who she would meet by accidentally spilling the contents of her coffee container all over his shirt. Through humor, the two would hit it off and agree to a date.
