Kendall came to Hallandale with the intention of working for Nichols' Beauticon.  However, when the scandal of Shaquanna's involvement in the downfall of Widlin Pierre's career hit the fan, Kendall jumped ship and immediately signed on as Royce's personal assistant at HatcherKeller Associates & Investigations per some coercion from Kavina Shah.  But things were never quite rosy between Kendall and Royce, for it was utter dislike at first sight.  It soon became impossible for the two to avoid one another once Kendall moved into Royce's apartment complex and started becoming close friends with Kavina.  Kavina, seeing potential chemistry between the two, encouraged Kendall to pursue Royce, but Kendall was completely opposed since she could hardly stand Royce.  Kavina still didn't let that deter her from playing matchmaker, ultimately betting Kendall if she was discontent with her new job after a month, she could leave free and clear.  Because of rising monetary problems, Kendall reluctantly agreed to interview for the position and Royce gladly accepted her after hearing what she could bring to the company.  Strangely enough, the two became pretty close and were hand in hand when Kavina went on trial for killing Leonard Stone.  They were practically the only two supporters Kavina had left, although Kendall wasn't sure how she felt about Kavina towards the end.

When it was later revealed during Kavina's conviction trial that Kendall had been connected to a murder previously, Royce got curious and questioned her about her sudden move from Europe to Hallandale.  When she kindly refused to talk about it, Royce accused her of hiding something and tried to convince her that talking about it might make her feel better, but Kendall was adamant that she did not want to discuss it and asked for Royce to drop the subject.  He obeyed her wishes, but the following day at the courthouse, his questioning of her past still amid in the air, Kendall angrily told him that he had no right to question her about her past. The two have barely spoken to one another since that encounter, but continue to work together pleasantly.  Kendall would then discover that a man from her past, Jacquez Esteves, was in town when he surprised her with a visit at HatcherKeller. Worried that people would connect his presence in town to her and start researching their paths in Europe, she insisted that Jacquez leave town. Jacquez refused, but later dropped out of Hunks & Beauty Fashions' summer/fall showing, removing himself from the public eye, which put Kendall's mind at ease.  In an attemt to smooth things over further, Jacquez informed Kendall that the D.A. might have simply been fishing around while she was on the stand and knew nothing of the details surrounding Pheonix's death.
