Evelin Vasquez
Evelin is a longtime friend of Earl Pryce.  She may wear her heart on a sleeve, but she's not one to be pushed around - perhaps it's the lawyer in her.  Despite her passive/aggressive attitude, there is one case that Evelin has not been able to break - she's secretly in love with her best friend.  Well, that's not entirely true.  Earl's younger brother, Matthew, caught on to Evelin's secret crush via one of his psychic dreams, which forewarned him that a relationship between Evelin and his brother would cost his brother everything.  The dream created friction between Matthew and Evelin when Matthew confronted her about her feelings and told her to squash any hope of Earl seeing her as anything more than a friend.  Insulted, Evelin dished out some harsh words, including how unstable Earl thought he had become.  This resulted in Matthew freezing her out for months until Evelin offered to help Matthew find out the truth about his father's death by taking him to Mt. Ridge Creek, even though Earl was against the idea.  As such, the trip never took place as Earl orchestrated it so that Evelin would be otherwise preoccupied with her family.  When Evelin finally returned to Hallandale, she noticed the distance that had occured between Earl and Matthew and inquired about it. Later, she tried to convince Earl to tell Matthew the truth about what happened, not understanding how keeping the secret could be worth losing his brother.  Earl ensured her that it would be much worse if Matthew knew and told her to drop the subject for he had no intention of reopening a part of the past that Matthew was finally making his way past.  Earl, who was suffering from a headache at the time, was later found by Evelin in his kitchen unconscious. She frantically called an ambulance and had him rushed to the hospital.  Upon arriving there herself, she learned that Earl might have contracted a deadly poison that was spreading quite strangely in Hallandale.  She then had the difficult task of telling Matthew the news, who was shocked to hear that such a thing had happened.

Since Earl's contraction of the virus, Evelin has spent the majority of her time waiting for him to open his eyes. She's also endured the ire of his ex- wife, Dalia Savoy, who quickly surmised that Evelin was in love with Earl.  It was a rather uncomfortable discussion for Evelin to be having with Earl's ex- wife [in his hospital room, no less], so she tried her best to move past it.  Unfortunately, Dalia was determine to warn Evelin against getting involved with Earl, informing Evelin that married life wasn't easy with Earl.  Dalia felt that she and Jason always had to compete for his commitment, something Evelin had a hard time buying.  Daila also suggested that she got full-custody of Jason because Earl didn't want to be saddled with raising a child, sparking Evelin to go on the defense because Dalia was saying all these vile things about a man that she cared about and who happened to be lying in a hospital bed right before them. Heated up by her altercation with Dalia, she took a break before joining Earl back at his side and trying to convince him to open his eyes.  Luck would have it, he heard her and woke up as his old snarky self.  Evelin ran deliriously through the halls of the hospital to tell the nurses and Matthew the news.  With Earl awake and things between Matthew and Dana getting serious, we knew it wouldn't be long before he started meddling in his brother's life again, this time bringing his good friend, Evelin, into the fold.  Evelin, however, isn't gun-ho about the plan because Earl is still recuperating and she feels that Matthew and Dana are more than capable of finding there way to one another.  Earl counters, asking where her sense of romance went.  He goes on to add that every couple in the making needs a good pushing.
