Anton McCloud
Anton is loyal, confidant and there when you need him.  Before his career move as a reporter for the Showtime Limits, Anton used to work for HatcherKeller & Associates Investigations as Rochelle Desmores' personal assistant.  However, that soon changed following Leonard Stone's (Rochelle's on-again/off-again boyfriend) murder, and Anton's budding romance with Malina Ramirez.  Anton and Malina first met at Garden Ridges Park, where he swept her off her feet with his proclammations of more exciting things to come if she graced his presence at the annual masquerade ball (bold move considering they were both virtual strangers).  At the same time, he was also dealing with a very fragile Rochelle, who was on the verge of nearly committing suicide after realizing that she and Leonard would never be happy together.  Therefore, the night of the masquerade ball, he spent a great amount of time looking out for her, which made Malina question the extent of his relationship with Rochelle.  Anton maintained that he and Rochelle were only friends.

Following the masquerade ball, the citizens of Hallandale learned that Leonard Stone had been murdered.  This was particularly perplexing for Anton because he couldn't erase from his mind the sight of Rochelle's blood-stained blouse the night of Leonard's murder, even though Rochelle maintained that it was ketchup.  Meanwhile, his new love interest (Malina) was making all kinds of friends -- that is, friends who wanted to kill her.  With Anton's help, they managed to tie all the incidents back to Camille Bellows, who was livid with Malina for interfering in her marriage to Mark (Malina told Mark that the only reason his wife was in Hallandale was to cause trouble for Widlin Pierre, this all led to Mark leaving Hallandale and Camille behind).  The hits didn't stop there.  Shortly after, it was revealed to everyone at Officer Aubrey Capitulous' very unorthodox interrogation party that Leonard Stone was alive, shocking everyone present.  This certainly changed everything, except for the fact that someone did try to off him.  However, despite that, Anton felt like he could finally put his suspicions aside about Rochelle committing the deed.

In fact, changes were on the horizon.  Craving a career that would take him to new heights, Anton handed over his resignation papers to Rochelle, effectively resigning from his position at HatcherKeller.  In fact, to his own surprise and Malina's, he later accepted a job opportunity as a news reporter for an underdeveloped news agency, Showtime Limits, which would later be taken over by Kyle Sharrington-Pierre, sparking the beginning of Kyle and Anton's friendship.  Excitement over his new gig was shortlived as he started feeling haunted by the memory of his dead cousin, Beau, who perished without a trace during a dangerous water stunt while he and Anton were in their late teens.  It was not until weeks later when he saw a security tape that he realized why the memories of his cousin's death were so ripe in his mind-- Beau was alive and harboring a vengence.  So on the heels of learning that his cousin was alive and having to testify yet again on behalf of someone in the murder of Leonard Stone (as it turns out, Leonard was indeed dead and his twin brother, Dean, was masquerading as him in order to get the goods on his kiler, which turned out to be Anton's former colleague and friend, Kavina Shah), a feud with his own cousin was the last thing he needed to contend with.  Malina, who realized the great deal of stress that Anton was under, tried to convince Beau to reign in his defenses for the sake of family.  Beau took her sermon to heart and attempted to mend fences with Anton, but Anton couldn't believe a word of it after everything his cousin had done.  He was further agitated when it appeared that Malina was siding with Beau over him.  Malina later explained that she talked with Beau and convinced him to let go the vendetta, but because of Anton's skeptism, her hard work had been for nothing.  Not so, Malina's work eventually paid off once Kavina's trial and all its distractions were over.  Anton realized that Dylan needed to be told that their cousin was alive and in town.  He also knew it meant that Dylan would have complete control over whether or not he wanted a relationship with his cousin, which still left Anton with some pause.  The good thing is that things have been a lot calmer on the McCloud/Devereaux homefront, so perhaps we can look forward to future holiday family dinners.

As of late, Anton has been focused on his relationship with Malina.  With Kyle and Lacreasha's recent engagement, he has been re-evaluating his own relationship.  He and Malina have been seeing each other for over a year and are now living under the same roof, so what's stopping them from walking down the aisle?  He loves her, she loves him and he can't imagine his life without her, so does that mean marriage is the next step?  Anton will continue to be troubled by this dilemma until a series of events puts everything into perspective, starting in episode 298.
