Andrew is a troubled, volatile young man with a sickening vendetta against Shanna Mallory Hemmings.  We don't know much regarding his past with Shanna, but it has come clear over the last season that it involves his deceased brother.  When Andrew flew into town, he quickly disrupted the Hemmings' cottage, arriving on Shanna and Ben's door step, pretending to be distressed over his wrecked car.  After making a phone call to someone other than a repair man, he left the Hemmings cottage only to darken their doors later when Shanna stumbled upon him being beaten by some thugs.  Reacting exactly as he presumed, she took him into her and Ben's home.  Things erupted later when Ben returned and found the two in an awkward position (Andrew had taken off his shirt while Shanna tended to his wounds).  Andrew tried to explain the situation, while feeding into Ben's jealous insecurities at the same time, but Ben wanted the man out of his home.  There was something about Andrew that left Ben unsettled, a fact he later explained to his wife.  Andrew kept a low profile following that incident.

Then one day, out of the blue, he came to Shanna ready to express his gratitude for her help the day he was attacked by those thugs.  Shanna didn't feel it was necessary, but he insisted on building her an art studio due to his knowledge of her fascination with art.  Plus, he saw it as the perfect opportunity to get closer to his nemesis.  It also became apparent that he was working with someone else in town-- the one and only Shalia Mendez Guittierrez, who Ben was rightfully suspicious of.  Shalia wanted Andrew to help her stop Ben, who had left Hallandale with the intention of exposing all her secrets.  Removing Ben from the equation fit right into Andrew's plan, so he was happy to oblige Shalia's desperate plea.  After about a month and a half, the art studio he was building was near completion and Shanna was already embracing her artistic side with a few sketches.  Andrew had her right where he wanted her.  Later, Shalia wondered if Andrew's reasons for getting rid of Ben were so he could finally have Shanna all to himself.  The suggestion, let alone the thought, was enough to make him sick.  His little sexual fantasy about Shanna, however, suggested otherwise.  However, it appeared to have been a one-time fantasy as far as we know, probably brought on by all of Shalia's insinuations.

Nowadays, Andrew continues to be a source of great comfort to Shanna as she deals with the news of her husband's death.  Could Shanna's grief over Ben open his eyes to another side of the widow?  If so, how will that affect the ominous plans he has in store for her?
